About Me

Ballinterry Christmas Supper Club
Ballinterry House was built in the 1600’s on the site of an Anglo-Norman Castle and later a Fortified House, is one of the ‘oldest continuously inhabited houses in Ireland’. Situated in the lovely Bride Valley the house has had a colourful history from its earliest associations with the Anglo-Norman Terry’s and the Earl of Barrymore through its ecclesiastical links to the Anglican Church and the notorious Rev William Ryder who was responsible for the Gortroe massacre in 1834. It is reputed that the famous philosopher George Berkley was a visitor to Ballinterry House when it was occupied by Reverand Ross in the 1700’s when he was Bishop of Cloyne. This year we opened our home as Country House accommodation and enjoyed welcoming guests into our home..... so much so that we have decided to launch our Christmas Supper Club. We think the house lends itself perfectly as a place for friends or family to gather together and celebrate the Season. Should you wish to stay over we offer three luxurious ensuite bedrooms. We are some 30 minutes from Cork Airport and the Cork/Swansea Ferry Terminal. Rosslare is approximately a two hour drive and Dublin City two and a half hours.
